Noise, Noise, Noise, Noise

The Corvette Diner is awful and brings out my inner Grinch. It's the noisiest restaurant I've ever been to, and this is by design. Corvette Diner now carries Stone IPA, so its bland, overpriced American food served with a strong helping of noise-induced headache can be eased with a decent beer - but of course the pint is not a real pint. Why is this not surprising? Corvette Diner, San Diego, December 1, 2009.

What the Hell is This?

I'm still trying to figure out whether these were beer glasses or champagne flutes. Was there a liquidation special at the restaurant supply store? These had to be twelve ounce beers, tops. On the left is a Firehouse Hefeweizen and a Stone Pale Ale is on the right, La Gran Tapa, San Diego, December 6, 2009.

All I Got Was A Rock

Like Charlie Brown, a friend kept getting poor pours while everyone else at the table was getting served full pints. This happened on three rounds, so I am guessing it must have been the brown ale's fault. The picture is a brown ale, don't know the brewer, at the San Diego Brewing Company November 20th, 2009

A Fancy Glass Is Still a Short Pint

Ballast Point's Calico Amber Ale at Roseville in San Diego, September 14, 2009. Despite the neat glass this $4 beer was in a short glass, I am guessing 12 oz, maybe 14 oz. That much foam in such a short glass stinks, too. More on Roseville here.

Lazy Pour

San Diego Brewing Company, July 22, 2009, Stone Ruination on cask with simcoe hops. SDBC should know better than serving a pour like this. My guess is the bartender just got tired of the hand pump.

The . Ugliest . Beer . Ever

The Venetian, San Diego, August 2008, Venetian House Beer. House beer? Is it really beer? Looks like root beer and tastes like crap.

Cool Glass Won't Hide A Poor Pour

Point Loma Sports Bar and Grill, San Diego, January 2009. Sam Adams Spring Ale. I am pretty sure this is not a 16 oz beer.

Chingo!

The Blue Parrot, Ocean Beach, July 2009, North Coast's Pranqster. It's awesome a Mexican restaurant is selling Pranqster, but with a fat bottomed glass and pour that leave two fingers of space, this beer did not last through the chips and salsa.

Classic

Pizza Nova, San Diego, spring 2009. I think the beer is Alaska Amber. The foam reminds me of a 1950's big hairdo.

Welcome to the Poor Poor

This is a blog dedicated to calling out restaurants and bars that allow sloppy bartending and that try to dupe customers by passing off fake pints as regular pints. I will post pictures and name the establishment. Send me your "poor pour" pictures and I will post them. Cheers!
